walk

Her eyes
veiled in dust and silence
I seek answers
for the shape of tomorrow
for a thread to follow out of grief

She offered none
Only the command:
walk

No map,
no water,
only endless desert

Her voice
merciless
words like sand
grating,
burying

Strength, she said,
is not given,
but torn from the body
one step at a time

Muscles burning,
skin split with the sun
Yet the desert is lighter
than the weight of questions
She will not take

The horizon never nears
The silence never answers
I walk
